This policy explains what PAHAL Society does with information you give us through this website. It describes what the site actually does — not what a template says a website might do.
Who we are
PAHAL Society is a non-profit organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, with its registered office in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. For anything in this policy, write to us using the details on our contact page.
What we collect when you donate
To accept a donation and issue you a valid receipt, we collect and store:
- your name, email address and mobile number;
- your postal address;
- your PAN, or another identity document you choose instead;
- the amount, date and payment reference of your donation.
We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details. Payments are processed by Razorpay, and those details go to them, not to us. We receive only a reference number confirming that the payment succeeded.
Why we need your PAN
Because the law requires it. Rule 18AB of the Income-tax Rules obliges every institution approved under section 80G to file an annual statement of donations — Form 10BD — naming each donor, with their address and identity number. We then issue you Form 10BE, which is the certificate your 80G deduction is claimed on.
This means your name, address and PAN are reported to the Income Tax Department. There is no way to both claim 80G and stay anonymous to the tax authority. If you would rather not be reported, you can still donate — choose “I do not have any of these” on the form — but you will not be able to claim a deduction.
What we collect from forms
If you write to us, volunteer or enquire about a partnership, we store what you typed — your name, contact details and message — so that we can reply and keep a record of the conversation.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
- We do not store your IP address. We store a one-way hash of it, which lets us spot abuse of our forms but cannot be turned back into your address.
- We do not load advertising trackers, and we do not use third-party fonts — the typefaces on this site are served from our own server, so visiting it does not tell anyone else that you did.
- We do not name donors publicly if they have asked us not to.
Who else sees your information
- Razorpay, to process your payment. Their own privacy policy governs what they hold.
- The Income Tax Department, in our Form 10BD filing, where the law requires it.
- Our auditors, when they examine our accounts.
- Nobody else, unless a law or a court obliges us.
How long we keep it
Donation records are financial records. We retain them for as long as tax and audit law requires — at present, at least eight years — because we must be able to substantiate what we filed. Enquiries are kept while they are useful and then deleted.
Your choices
Write to us and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, and delete anything we are not legally obliged to keep. We cannot delete a donation record we are required to retain, and we cannot un-report a donation already filed — but we will always tell you plainly which is which.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. WordPress sets a session cookie if you log in to the administration area, and Razorpay sets its own during a payment. That is all.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we will change this page and update the date at the top of it.
